Building a machine need electronics and mechanics, you can buy the electronics from PiBot store, with the firmware and software support, you can bulid your machine easier.

Step 1 : Confirm Your Electronics and Mechanics

3D Printer Controller Board

A complete controller board, already have a default firmware used for tested, designed for easy plug and configure before get start to work.

Quantity Required: 1

Stepper Motor Driver

The Qty your need depends on the number of stepper motors you have. but can drive two nema 17 for one axis at the same time, this depends on the motor current. default driver microstepping: 1/16.

Quantity Required: 4 OR MORE

LCD SD Controller

Have 4 keys and TF card reader, used for display the printer status and print by the TF card. the menu map can be found in (click here), easy for put brand or name display in LCD via modify PiBot firmware.

Quantity Required: 1

End Stop

Use 3 Endstops for the machine find the datum point( such as x y z (0,0,0)) before start print. if use 6, the remaining 3 are used to protect the machine from moving past its intended range which your setting.

Quantity Required: 3 OR 6

Heated Bed (Glass and Tape Need)

A heated Bed improves printing quality by helping to prevent warping.Or can replace the heated bed to an acrylic platform.

Quantity Required: 0 or 1

Extruder

The PiBot extruder have included all the things needed (thermistor,Ceramic,etc.), assemble to machine then can works.

Quantity Required: 1 or 2

Stepper Motor

The Qty depend on the construct of machine.

Quantity Required: 4 or more

Tooth Timing Pulley(Belt Need)

Please confirm the model and the number of tooth,Those parameter used for calculate the Step/mm.

Quantity Required: 2 or more

Lead Screw

Please confirm the Screw diameter and the Leads,Those parameter used for calculate the Step/mm.

Quantity Required: 1 or more

The Frame

The rest of items needed is a frame -- can buy one or design a special one.

Step 2 : Connect Your Electronics

About Cables

PiBot Provide 4 cables to you for easy connect, or you can do it by yourself.

Step 3 : Inching Test Your Electronics via LCD Display Controller

The inching test only basic test, no the fully test.


Notice: Before your turn on the power: Make sure no short circuit, the power supply input voltage that you are using the correct. Make sure you are in a safe environment, and do the protective measures.if something wrong, please immediately cut off the power supply.


Now you can tune on the power.

 

Test LCD Display Controller

When turn on the power, you can see the information display in the LCD, if you with the extruder install ,it can display the temp, if you have the heatbed install, it can display the heatbed temp.

 

Test Endstop

 When it triger, the blue light will work.

 

Test Motor Movement

Click --> in the keys board then find the x position, up or down set a samll value, then the motor can work.

 

Test HeatBed

Qucik setting-- pre PLA, the related LED on the board work, back to the main menu, check the temp, when up 3- 5°C, quickly press reset, turn off it(this is the inching test, just for test if it can work, don't make it heat, it is not under control).

 

Test Extruder

Step 4 : Assemble to Your Machine

 Now, you can assemble the electronics to your machine.
